LISTEN, I GET IT.
You’re an accomplished, kind-hearted leader.
People trust you. Rely on you. Count on your judgment.
And still, when things get complex, high-stakes, or unpredictable, you may overextend, second-guess yourself, or push through while disconnecting from your own clarity.
Not because you’re incapable.
Because oppressive systems taught you to lead this way.
Most leadership spaces won’t name this.
They’ll tell you to build more capacity, manage your mindset, or optimize your habits.
But that’s not the real issue.
The real issue is this:
Oppression, trauma, and pressure have conditioned you to override your own knowing.
And it’s costing you clarity, energy, joy, and the level of leadership you’re capable of.
Liberatory adaptive leadership for pressure, conflict, and real-life complexity
Grounded & Growing is a structured, relational leadership experience designed to help you embody what you’re learning where it matters most:
—in high-stakes conversations
—in conflict, accountability, and repair
—in leadership choices with real consequences
—in the moments when you can feel yourself slipping into fear, shutdown, over-functioning, or composure that is more performance than grounding
This is not about becoming unbothered. It is about becoming more clear, courageous, flexible, and fully resourced.
Appreciation from April’s Previous Coaching Clients,
and Current and Past G&Gniks
Rabbi Scott Shafrin said the program helped him move beyond narrow coaching into holistic transformation. He gained tools to navigate emotionally demanding justice work while feeling less alone, more grounded, and more able to lead with clarity, compassion, and humanity.
Nina, a retired licensed therapist and social justice lay leader, called the program truly transformational. She gained practical tools to make mistakes, repair, and keep going—feeling stronger, more resourced, and better able to navigate challenges without collapsing into fear or perfectionism.
Citrinepointe, artist and environmentalist in training, said the program helped them reclaim their spirituality and reopen a relationship with the Divine. Through embodied practice, they learned to trust their body as a partner in healing—feeling safer, more whole, and more grounded in humility and gratitude.
Robin, a rabbinical student and former public school educator, said working with April helped him trust himself again. He stopped overthinking, reconnected with purpose and possibility, and found the courage to make bold life choices—including becoming a rabbi later in life—with greater clarity, confidence, and alignment.
Alexandra, executive director of a national nonprofit, said April’s coaching helped her launch her career with clarity and confidence. She gained practical skills, grounding, and a values-aligned community—building a foundation that continues to support her leadership with purpose, connection, and vision.
Jon, a director at a national nonprofit, said April’s guidance helped him navigate major career firsts with more confidence and self-trust. Through personalized mentorship blending practical strategy, intuition, and spiritual insight, he learned to advocate for himself with greater clarity, agency, and steadiness.

-

Conveniently (note the sarcasm), you've been conditioned to suppress & ignore your natural pathways to power & joy. We're gonna fix that. ;)
-

Navigate Complexity with Greater Sophistication
...with an integrative self-coaching method that helps you systematically account for multiple factors & achieve desired outcomes.
MODULE OVERVIEW: A CLOSER LOOK…
Reclaim Your Power When Knocked Off-Balance
Learn how to easily identify & subtly intervene to position yourself for better outcomes by shifting from default to intentional action.
Learn how to identify different mental and physiological states and what is and isn’t possible within each.
How to diplomatically and reliably navigate stressful inter-personal or leadership situations for the best outcomes
Equip yourself so that you can not only navigate stressful moments, but avoid them altogether in the future.
RESULTS:
You avoid less-than-ideal decisions and the consequences that follow from them, and position yourself as a thoughtful and discerning leader, while creating space for you to later process what you need to take the most strategic and aligned action available.
Why is this important?
It puts you back in the drivers seat when you’ve been temporarily (almost) been knocked off-course and positions you well for taking effective action, navigating conflict with greater intercultural competence & liberatory consciousness, building better relationships, and steadily accessing your best insight and cultivating your co-creative wisdom.
There can be joy & meaning found, even in the mistakes. “This experience was full of so many insights...the work of transforming communities, institutions, and systems into more just and equitable ones is long and hard, but it does not have to be completely frustrating or hopeless. There can be joy and meaning found even in the small steps forward, or even in the mistakes. It has really given me...a lot of energy to tackle these challenges in my own life and work."
—Mark, Rabbi & social justice leaderSkillfully Account for Histories of Harm
Learn how to identify and dissolve deep-rooted patterns that unknowingly drive your reactions, so you can access your natural wisdom even in triggering moments. This revolutionary approach helps you stop overworking and overachieving your way through challenges by addressing and transforming them at their source.
How to identify how and when historic unhealed harm is influencing your present moment perspective.
How to transform your energetic orientation to a stressful issue or challenge.
Learn to leverage emotional and embodied awareness and expression for intentional self-evolution.
RESULTS:
You'll develop an unshakeable trust in your leadership instincts, maintain your effectiveness & grounding, and navigate complexity with grace and wisdom. Instead of pushing harder when triggered, you'll pause to access a deeper well of insight that allows you to truly respond rather than react.
Why is this important?
Most leadership approaches focus on managing triggers better or becoming "untriggerable" - but this keeps you stuck in cycles of achievement-based compensation. By dissolving these patterns at their source, you unlock your capacity to lead from sovereign presence rather than reactive compensation. This transformation is essential for creating lasting impact without burning out or sacrificing your wellbeing.
It was a really amazing experience... "It was a really amazing experience to weave together trauma-informed work, racial justice and my identity. It resonated in a completely different way than any other justice training I have participated in to-date."
—Sandra, Organizational DEI consultantAccess the Keys of Intentional Transformation
Transform your relationship with emotions and energy from what feels like a liability into your greatest leadership asset. Instead of suppressing or managing these vital aspects of yourself, learn to access them as powerful sources of insight and inspiration that enhance rather than derail your effectiveness. This is the foundation of true sovereignty & co-creative wisdom in your leadership.
Establish and refine a regular rhythm for surfacing and honoring your energetic state and emotional truth as central components of mindful living and strategic leadership.
Recognize that emotions and energetic frequency are not threats to avoid but key allies (sources of insight and mechanisms) for healing reactive responses and stopping stress cycles.
Learn to agilely utilize your emotions and skillfully apply energetic frequencies with co-creative wisdom to achieve increasing fulfillment and to make remarkable progress and contributions in your living and leadership.
RESULTS:
You develop a meaningful, dynamic relationship with your emotions and energetic state, learning to trust and utilize them as powerful resources in your life. This alignment fosters a sense of grounded confidence, flow, and authenticity that amplifies your impact and joy in both your personal and professional realms.
Why is this important?
Emotions and energetic frequency are the gateway to transformation and unlocking your greatest potential and deepest joy. When ignored, they create blockages that leave you stuck in reactive patterns and inaccurate perceptions. By embracing and mastering the ability to steward and honor them, you access a profound source of insight, creativity, resilience, and alignment that enables inspired, sustainable transformation.
A shorthand for how to deal with life. "A complete method to gain access to one's own thoughts and feelings. A way to process past experiences and/or trauma so that the experience can be used for growth and moving forward. Briefly - a shorthand for how to deal with life. Shema - listen and learn."
—Nina, licensed therapist and social justice lay leaderNavigate Complexity with Increasing Sophistication
We teach you how to sustain visionary leadership in complex times so that you can transform challenges into opportunities for deeper wisdom, maintaining your effectiveness while advancing meaningful change. Instead of just surviving complexity, you'll learn to anticipate, quickly adapt, and thrive in it, creating innovative solutions that serve your leadership aspirations and the interests of your organization/communities, all while making progress toward collective liberation.
Weaving mindfulness and right pacing into how you’re navigating complex terrain.
Accessing a range of tools and insights that support you in deepening your sophistication, strategy, and ethical & liberation standards.
Fully completing the shift from chronically operating in stressful response cycles to applying that energy to consistently, proactively, and appreciatively exploring and applying methods to optimize your experiences and outcomes.
RESULTS:
With repeated application, you gain and can eventually master the ability to integrate your knowledge, intuition, and leadership skills into your own seamless, visionary approach. This step equips you to remain balanced (and perhaps even thrive!) in complex situations, make effective and ethical decisions, and consistently deliver innovative, impactful outcomes while nourishing, instead of sacrificing, your well-being.
Why is this important?
Our world deserves better than us merely surviving, which, on a societal and global scale, we’re not even doing so well at the moment. This means simply being great or excellent isn’t enough. Those who are committed to bringing more healing, justice, and well-being to our world must have reliable tools that assist us in not only staying afloat, but triumphing in the face of some of the most daunting challenges humanity has ever faced. The stakes, quite literally, could not be any higher.
Noticeably more equipped to encounter tension. "I feel noticeably more equipped to encounter moments of tension within racial and social justice work and just in life, with more groundedness and a sense that it can be opportunity for growth and connection. The tools, rituals, and practices I've learned here, and as well as the group I went through this experience have felt like a real gift. I am so grateful for April and this program!"

Fabulously Asked & Answered Questions
Have an additional question? You’re welcome to send us a message and we’ll get back to you!
-
Yeah. This program is for you.
Most people who join Grounded & Growing are not beginners. They are already exceptional.
They have often done a lot already. Many are in therapy. Many have also invested in trainings, retreats, coaching, or other growth work. They are thoughtful, self-aware, and deeply committed to justice and growth.
And still, something is not shifting.
Not because they are failing.
Not because they are incapable.
And not because they need a mountain of new information. But because insight alone does not change how you show up when it matters.
You can understand your patterns and still over-function.
You can name oppression and still feel stuck inside it.
You can have tools and still not use them when the pressure hits. That is the gap this program is designed to close.
Grounded & Growing is not about drowning you in more information. It is about helping you better use what you already know in real time, in your real life.
We do that through a clear but demanding rhythm:
course content → reflect → discuss → apply → return with greater insight
Over and over again, until it is not something you are trying to remember to do. It becomes how you lead.
If you are looking for something quick, light, or purely inspirational, this is not it.
If you are ready to become the leader you already sense you could be, but have not fully accessed yet, you are in the right place. This emphasis on moving beyond knowledge into embodied practice is directly aligned with the transformation your offer is meant to create.
-
Grounded & Growing is for people who are already good at what they do—and know they could be more effective, more courageous, and less depleted.
This includes:
Executive Directors and nonprofit professionals
doctors, nurses
clergy
attorneys
teachers
coaches
movement leaders, organizers
You do not need a formal title.
If you are leading in any context—work, community, family, or systems—and you want to do that with more clarity, resilience, and integrity, this work applies.
-
No.
Grounded & Growing is not therapy, nor do we claim that it is.
This is leadership training, coaching, and a community of practice designed to help you apply insight in real life: in your leadership, your relationships, your decision-making, the conflicts you encounter, and your capacity. Many participants are in therapy, and many find the two work beautifully together. Grounded & Growing gives you frameworks, language, practices, and support you can apply in real time, and, if desired, bring into therapy for added depth and support.
Many participants have shared that Grounded & Growing helped them break through places where they felt stuck in therapy or other healing work. Many have also benefited from bringing Grounded & Growing insights into sessions with their licensed mental health practitioners.
This work is often deeply healing. And it is still not therapy.
It is for people who want more than insight alone. It is for people who want support in actually changing how they live, lead, choose, relate, and respond.
-
It’s an accordion—you can make it expand or contract to meet your needs.
There is asynchronous course content, optional live support, and practices to try on and try out in your real life.
You could spend as little as about an hour a week. A more immersive rhythm might look like 2 to 4 hours in a given week, depending on how much course content, reflection, and real-life practice you engage.
It’s also important to say this plainly: a lot of the “time” is time you are already spending, now with better tools and insights. Navigating conflict. Making decisions. Repairing relationships. Carrying stress.
The difference is that with Grounded & Growing, you are not just getting through those moments—you are learning how to meet them with more clarity, efficacy, and care.
Over time, many people find this gives them back more choice, time, and clarity.
-
Grounded & Growing is a 6-month leadership training and coaching container designed to work with real life, not against it.
The core curriculum is delivered asynchronously, so you can move through the material at your own pace. There’s an intro module and 5 core learning modules.
Alongside that, there are live elements that support integration, including:
Q&A and integration sessions
Group coaching calls
Live classes, and
listening partnerships, which you schedule at your convenience
The program is built around a repeating rhythm of learning, reflection, discussion, and real-life application, so you are not just understanding the material—you are actually applying it.
There is enough structure to guide you, and enough flexibility to meet you where you are.
-
You will not fall behind.
This program is built around returning, not perfect attendance.
Because the core curriculum is asynchronous, you can continue engaging with the material regardless of whether you attend every live session.
The live elements are there to deepen and support your learning, not to gatekeep it.
You can re-enter through the course content, the practices, and the next available session.
And you can always reach out in the Whatsapp group or reach for a listening partnership to help you reenter and get back on track. -
Because the outcomes we are building require time to take root.
Six months gives you enough space to learn the framework, engage the course content, reflect and process, try it in your actual leadership moments, see what happens, debrief, refine, and return with more wisdom and skill.
That is how change becomes durable.
Grounded & Growing is intentionally built to support meaningful change as efficiently and authentically as possible. That does not mean rushing. It means giving the work enough time to become yours. Not just something you understand intellectually, but something you can actually embody, customize, and use in the life you are really living. That emphasis on embodied transformation over mere knowledge is central to the offer as described in your ecosystem materials.
This is why the program is not just insight-heavy. It is even more focused on application, integration, and personal customization, so the work can truly support you in changing your life for the better in the ways you most deeply want.
-
he 6-month program is the core training experience.
After that, you will have the option to continue in an ongoing Community of Practice if you want continued support, coaching, and integration.
This is for people who want to keep deepening the work over time, rather than stopping once the initial container ends.
-
